Welcome to the Nevada Wildlife Federation
The NvWF is the state affiliate of National Wildlife Federation (NWF), one of 46 State Affiliates. The NWF is the world's largest conservation organization, with over 4 million members. NvWF has numerous affiliate organizations throughout Nevada representing sportsmen, conservationists, and others who work on local, state and national conservation issues. The NvWF mission statement is dedicated to sustaining Nevada’s natural resources for wildlife through conservation and education. The NvWF is organized into three districts, NW Nevada (Reno), NE Nevada (Elko), and Southern Nevada (Las Vegas). Each district holds separate district meetings and the directors from each district attend quarterly board meetings held throughout the state. We are an all volunteer organization with each director volunteering an average of 200 hours per year. The NvWF utilizes the NWF Backyard Wildlife Habitat Program, which certifies school yard habitats, businesses and individual property owner yards. We are putting more emphasis into this program. There are hundreds of yards out there that could be certified. The basics are year around water (birdbath), food and cover (evergreens, dense shrubs or brush piles).Get involved! Check out our Volunteer Opportunities page! If you have any general questions or comments, please contact us at nvwf@nvwf.org
Nevada Wildlife is the official publication of the Nevada Wildlife Federation and is published 4 times a year.

Create a Certified Wildlife Habitat™
Declining Sagebrush Dear Nevadan, During the past decade Nevada has lost millions of acres of sagebrush, mostly due to fire and invasive weeds. The loss of the sagebrush habitat has been tough on Nevada’s wildlife. Our deer and sage-grouse populations continue to decline. The Nevada Wildlife Federation intends to change that trend, but we need your help and assistance. The Nevada Wildlife Federation has been a champion of sagebrush habitats for many years. We with other conservation organizations published a booklet for private land owners about how to manage sagebrush habitats for sage grouse. With more members, we could do more – more projects, more for education, more to inform politicians and agencies, and more to support collaborating agencies and individuals with projects to keep habitats resilient. We need volunteers to plant shrubs next spring and donations or memberships to support the restoration of critical winter habitat for deer and other sagebrush dependent critters.
