The Anaho National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) is an island in Pyramid Lake, located in the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation. The area can be reached by Highway 445 from Sparks or Highway 447 from Wadsworth. The Anaho Island NWR is closed to public entry to protect wildlife.

Pyramid Lake was named by John C. Fremont in January of 1844 for the "very remarkable rock in the lake, which attracted our attention for many miles. It rose, according to our estimate, 600 feet above the water, and, from the point we viewed it, presented a pretty exact outline of the great pyramid of Cheops."

Anaho Island has one of the largest white pelican nesting colonies in North America, as well as cormorant, great blue heron, and gull nesting colonies.
